Cambodia Halts Fuel and Gas Imports from Thailand

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet posted on Facebook that, starting from midnight of June 23, 2025, Cambodia will suspend all imports of fuel and gas from Thailand. He stated that Cambodian oil supply companies can adequately import fuel and gas from other sources to meet domestic demand.

Earlier, Hun Manet ordered the closure of two border checkpoints with the announcement made on June 22. He emphasized that Cambodia has never intended to make things difficult for the citizens of both countries who rely on the border checkpoints. However, he warned that if the Thai military continues to use such tactics to pressure Cambodia, Cambodia is ready to retaliate at any time.

Hun Manet noted it was surprising that Thai political leaders, including the Prime Minister, have repeatedly called for bilateral negotiations to reopen the border checkpoints, yet the Thai military has unilaterally closed or adjusted the operating hours of these crossings.
