CP Axtra Launches “AXTRA Zero Waste” Campaign to Achieve Zero Landfill Target by 2030

CP Axtra Public Company Limited (SET: CPAXT), the operator behind wholesale and retail giants Makro and Lotus’s, is ramping up its sustainability drive with the launch of its “Reduce Waste, Add Value: AXTRA Zero Waste” project. The initiative aims to completely eliminate food waste sent to landfills by 2030, in line with the company’s broader vision of embedding sustainability as its core principle.

Through partnerships and the adoption of green innovation, CP Axtra is transforming what was once discarded as waste into resources that benefit society, farmers, and the environment. This commitment was highlighted at the “TNN Forum 2025 – TRANSFORMING THAILAND: Shaping Thailand’s Future and Sustainability,” where CP Axtra showcased its leadership in retail, coupling growth with enduring value and emphasizing that sustainability is “the root of the organization.”

The “Reduce Waste, Add Value: AXTRA Zero Waste” initiative focuses on two key strategies:

  • “Edible, Shareable, No Waste”: This approach redistributes surplus, high-quality food that’s still within its shelf life to those in need, such as low-income families, through collaborations with organizations like the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s BKK FOOD BANK, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and SOS Foundation, all in a bid to strengthen food security and reduce food waste.
  • “Zero Waste, Endless Benefit”: This pillar focuses on sustainable food waste management by leveraging green innovations—such as using food waste for breeding BSF protein insects for farmers to lower feed costs and generate new products and income. This effort supports the circular economy and sustainable community development.

By 2025, both strategies under “Reduce Waste, Add Value: AXTRA Zero Waste” are expected to divert more than 15,000 tons of waste from landfills and generate over 76 million baht in economic value for communities.

Additionally, CP Axtra is continuing its “AXTRA Green Together” campaign, fostering a workplace culture where employees actively participate in energy conservation, waste separation, and efficient resource use, placing sustainability at the heart of day-to-day operations.

Siriporn Dechsingha, Chief Corporate Sustainability and Communication Officer of CP Axtra, emphasized, “The ‘Zero Waste, Endless Benefit’ is not just a concept; it’s a concrete action at every Makro and Lotus’s branch under CP Axtra. Through green innovation, we transform discarded items into new value for society, farmers, and the environment, driving a circular economy toward our 2030 zero food waste target.”

CP Axtra believes that its “Reduce Waste, Add Value: AXTRA Zero Waste” journey not only mitigates environmental impacts but also creates lasting value for society, the economy, and people’s lives.
