UOB Kay Hian Securities (Thailand) stated that shares of SINGER and other finance groups rose on expectations of upcoming economic stimulus measures, such as the ‘Half-Half’ co-payment program, which are seen as likely to boost purchasing power, alleviate living expenses, and improve debt repayment capabilities for borrowers.
While no additional concrete measures have yet been announced, the tone of recent interviews with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul suggests further initiatives are forthcoming.
These may include support for the agricultural sector and compensation for those affected by disasters such as flooding. Such efforts are expected to bolster sentiment in the financial sector, as improved borrower quality could result from decreased household costs.
