Shares in Energy Absolute (SET: EA) surged by 22.88%, Beyond Securities (SET: BYD) rallied 29.79%, and Next Point (SET: NEX) advanced 14.29% as of 16:22 local time in Bangkok on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. The sharp gains are attributed to increased speculative activity among traders ahead of the scheduled announcement of the Terms of Reference (TOR) tomorrow for the bidding.
Mr. Kittikan Chomdoung Charuworapolkul, Director of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), told “Kaohoon” that the procurement project for 1,520 clean-energy air-conditioned buses (EV buses) is expected to open for bidding within October.
For the initial batch of 1,520 units, the government will provide funding support for leasing the vehicles. Future phases of the initiative will adopt a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, which is currently under feasibility study.
On the progress and schedule for the EV bus tender, Kittikarn noted that the committee is finalizing the draft Terms of Reference, with a decisive meeting slated for September 18. Once finalized, the TOR will be published on the official website for at least seven days to gather public feedback. If there are no objections during this public consultation period, the bidding announcement will proceed immediately.
