Thai SEC Joins IOSCO Board Meeting to Discuss Global Regulation

Prof. Dr. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, Secretary-General of the Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), in her capacity as a member of the IOSCO Board, together with Mrs. Sittasri Nakasiri, Assistant Secretary-General of the SEC, attended the 3rd IOSCO Board Meeting of 2025.

The meeting was held in Madrid, Spain, from 27–28 October 2025, to discuss key international topics such as global capital market trends, significant events and their impact on capital markets, measures for the development of capital markets in each country, and the use of technology to enhance supervisory efficiency (Supervisory Technology: SupTech).

International standards for digital asset regulation, advancements in the tokenization of financial assets, measures for retail investor protection, new risks, regulatory standards for securities firms, approaches to regional supervision, and cooperation between IOSCO and other international organizations were also discussed.

Furthermore, the SEC Secretary-General held a bilateral meeting with Ms. Julia Leung, Chairwoman of the IOSCO Asia Pacific Regional Committee and Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, to exchange views on regional supervision.

Their discussions covered investor protection, raising regulatory standards, frameworks for product and infrastructure development, and mutual cooperation aimed at enhancing regional competitiveness and supporting the development of the Thai capital market in line with the SEC’s strategic plan.
