KH Legal Aid Hosts Free Seminar, Equips Public to Identify and Avoid Investment Scams

KH Academy, as part of Kaohoon Turakij’s ongoing commitment to elevating public knowledge and enhancing the standards of Thai society, recently hosted a free legal education seminar under its KH Legal Aid initiative. The event aimed to equip the public with a better understanding of their legal rights and responsibilities, helping to reduce the risk of fraud and legal missteps.

Held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at KH Academy’s Ratchathewi Campus, the seminar centered on the theme: “Don’t Get Duped: Outsmart Investment Scams Before They Happen.” Special guest speaker, Mr. Wuttichai Phumsanguan, Provincial Public Prosecutor attached to the Office of the Attorney General, provided insights into Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Act and delved into common methods used in modern investment scams. He guided participants on how to recognize investors’ rights, seek legal protection, and report fraudsters effectively.

Mr. Wuttichai emphasized the critical importance of knowledge as the first line of defense against scams, telling attendees, “Today we’re discussing the fundamentals of the Securities and Exchange Act and how certain fraudsters exploit the name of the stock market to deceive investors, often without any real trading taking place. It’s crucial to build your understanding and analytical skills to resist such schemes. Regulators, like the SEC and DSI, now provide tools for checking licenses and verifying if those offering investments are legitimate.”

He further warned, “Never trust information or offers at face value. Scammers often use fear and greed to lure victims. Before investing, always consult knowledgeable individuals, as artificial intelligence can now doctor online information with ease—so always double-check before making decisions. A useful mantra is: ‘Quick riches can happen, but easy riches don’t exist in this world. While investing is important, investing in knowledge is even more vital.’”

The session was praised by participants for its engaging and accessible delivery, with practical knowledge that could be applied in daily life and shared with others. Thanawat Noisumeth, a second-year business student at Kasetsart University, remarked, “We learned a lot today, especially about warning signs in both securities and scam investments. Now, I feel equipped to use this knowledge to protect myself and my family—and to know where to report and what evidence to gather if we fall victim.”

KH Legal Aid will continue to be held monthly, free of charge. Updates and further details can be found on the KH Academy’s Facebook, Instagram, and mobile application, available for both Android and iOS.
