Home Repair Shares Rise on Easing Flood Threat in Southern Thailand

Retail and construction material stocks edged higher on Friday, following the report that the water level in the flooding area in Southern Thailand is receding, sending a positive sentiment for stocks linked to home repair.

At the closing of the morning session, Siam Global House Public Company Limited (SET: GLOBAL) stood at THB 6.60, up THB 0.15 or 2.33%. Dohome Public Company Limited (SET: DOHOME) was at THB 3.82, rising THB 0.06 or 1.60%. Home Product Center Public Company Limited (SET: HMPRO) was at THB 6.40, gaining THB 0.15 or 2.40%.

Krungsri Securities (KSS) stated that the flood situation in Hat Yai district, Songkhla Province, may temporarily pressure retail sales in the short term. However, after the water recedes, there will be a positive impact from repair and restoration activities. Retail and construction material stocks are expected to benefit from this, such as GLOBAL, DOHOME, and HMPRO.

Additionally, the Thai government is also pushing for flood relief, fueling the momentum for the repairment as well.
