The Thai Court has delivered a significant ruling in a criminal fraud case involving JKN Global Group Public Company Limited (SET: JKN) and its former executive, Jakkaphong “Anne” Jakrajutatip. The lawsuit was initiated by Dr. Rawee-wat Maschamadol, popularly known as “Mor Se,” the founder of Masterpiece Hospital.
The court found that between 24 July and 8 August 2023, the defendants collaborated to deceive the plaintiff into investing 30 million baht in company debentures. Crucially, they presented false information and concealed JKN’s actual financial status, despite Jakkaphong knowing the company was facing severe financial burdens and would be unable to meet its repayment obligations.
Under the Criminal Code, the court sentenced Jakkaphong to two years in prison and ordered JKN to pay a fine of 40,000 baht. Because Jakkaphong is currently a fugitive and has evaded an arrest warrant for over a month, the verdict was delivered in her absence. This case serves as a stark reminder of the legal consequences regarding the misrepresentation of financial health to corporate investors.
