Samsung Targets 800 Million AI-Enabled Devices with Google’s Gemini by 2026

Samsung Electronics plans to double the number of its mobile devices equipped with artificial intelligence features powered by Google’s Gemini, aiming to reach 800 million units in 2026, according to co-CEO T M Roh in comments given to Reuters. The move is expected to strengthen Google’s position in the escalating battle for dominance in AI technologies.

Roh disclosed to Reuters during his interview in November that Samsung plans to rapidly expand AI integration across its entire consumer electronics lineup. The company last year had integrated Gemini-driven AI capabilities into approximately 400 million devices—including smartphones and tablets.

As the world’s leading supporter of Google’s Android platform, Samsung’s commitment is poised to give Google a significant advantage in its competition with OpenAI and other industry leaders vying for user adoption of their AI models.

Samsung’s strategy also aims at regaining its former lead from Apple in the global smartphone market and defending its market share from rising Chinese brands. The company plans to extend integrated AI services across television and home appliances—categories overseen by Roh—in a bid to enhance its competitive edge.

While Samsung is focused on advancing AI features across product categories to outpace Apple, the latter was on track to become the world’s top smartphone maker last year, according to research by Counterpoint.
