SCC Announces Temporary Shutdown of Vietnam’s LSP to Mitigate Cost Impact

The Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SET: SCC) has disclosed to the Stock Exchange of Thailand, regarding the temporary shutdown of the Long Son Petrochemicals Co., Ltd. operation in Vietnam.

The company stated that reference was made to the disclosure made by SCC to the Stock Exchange of Thailand on March 10, 2026, regarding the temporary shutdown of the olefins plant of Rayong Olefins Co., Ltd. (ROC) due to the situation in the Middle East.

The situation has remained prolonged and highly uncertain, with no clear indication of near-term resolution. During this period, SCC has continuously undertaken commercially reasonable measures to mitigate the impacts, including sourcing feedstocks from alternative suppliers outside the Strait of Hormuz, despite significantly higher costs, in order to maintain operational stability and minimize impacts on stakeholders.

Despite the above measures, the prolonged situation, which remains beyond SCC’s control, has continued to cause constraints in feedstock procurement in terms of both cost and continuity of supply. After careful consideration, SCC has determined that it is necessary to temporarily suspend the operations of Long Son Petrochemicals Co., Ltd., Vietnam (LSP), a subsidiary of SCC under the Chemicals Business, in or around mid-May 2026. The temporary suspension of LSP is estimated to incur a fixed cash cost of approximately 250 million Baht per month.

During the temporary suspension period, LSP will carry out maintenance activities and expedite preparations for the project to increase ethane gas feedstock at the LSP plant in Vietnam (LSPE Project), in order to ensure the operational readiness of the plant and machinery and to support the plan to strengthen long-term competitiveness in line with the planned schedule.

SCC noted that it will continue to closely monitor the situation and adjust its operating plans in response to the ongoing uncertainty, while giving due consideration to customers and all relevant stakeholders.

Apart from the temporary shutdown of the two plants, namely LSP and ROC, as mentioned above, operations of other plants within the Chemicals Business, as well as other businesses of SCG, continue as normal, with operating adjustments made in line with the uncertain situation.
