Trump Delays Planned Strike on Iran after Requests from Regional Leaders

President Donald Trump announced that planned military action against Iran set for Tuesday has been put on hold, following a request from leaders in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The decision comes as parties pursue further negotiations aimed at resolving ongoing tensions.

In a message posted on Truth Social, President Trump said that discussions with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan led to the postponement of the attack. According to Trump, the leaders urged that the United States halt its operation, citing active diplomatic talks that could soon yield a deal.

Trump indicated he informed Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman General Daniel Caine that the planned action for Tuesday would not proceed. He emphasized that U.S. forces should remain ready to act immediately if negotiations with Iran do not result in an acceptable agreement.

During remarks at the White House, Trump stated that the assault was delayed for a short period at the request of Gulf state officials, who expressed optimism that a satisfactory arrangement could be reached. Trump noted that if Iran agrees to terms that exclude the development of nuclear weapons, the U.S. would consider that result acceptable.

The president also relayed that regional leaders believe ongoing negotiations may soon deliver a settlement agreeable to all parties, preventing further escalation and addressing concerns over Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
