On Wednesday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,615.18 points, showing a decrease of 1.95 points or 0.12%, with a trading value of THB 55.64 billion.
Yuanta Securities (Thailand) stated that the Thai stock market remained flat in the morning session, despite positive external factors such as a decline in oil prices and U.S. government bond yields. The index was weighed down by a retreat in upstream energy stocks, which adjusted downward in line with the movement in crude prices.
However, sectors that benefit from falling oil prices helped provide support for the index, such as the power generation and finance sectors. Additionally, there was speculative buying in stocks with strong earnings results, although there may be some selling pressure in those where growth is in line with or below market expectations. Meanwhile, TRUE saw selling pressure following concerns regarding the potential stake divestment by China Mobile, with investors still awaiting further clarity on the situation.
For the afternoon session, the index is expected to remain steady. The support level is estimated at 1,610 points, with resistance anticipated at 1,618 to 1,620 points.
The five securities with the highest trading value were as follows:
- TRUE: trading value THB 5.26 billion, closing at THB 13.40, down THB 0.40 or 2.90%
