Following an August 17 incident in which an active landmine injured a Thai soldier, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul led an official delegation to the Chong An Ma border post in Ubon Ratchathani Province on August 23, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The prime ministerial trip aimed to assess security conditions on the ground and demonstrate solidarity with military personnel deployed along the boundary.
The Foreign Affair Ministry emphasized that the administrative visit was conducted exclusively within Thai territory. The authority confirmed the tour conformed entirely to the bilateral framework established under the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting, which both states ratified on December 27, 2025.
In reaffirming its strategic stance, Thailand emphasized its enduring commitment to resolving neighborly disagreements through peaceful, established bilateral channels and existing international treaties, said the ministry.
To foster a constructive environment for resolving outstanding border issues, Bangkok has urged Cambodia to stop circulating deceptive assertions and instead engage in cooperative, good-faith efforts.
