OpenAI’s latest AI model, GPT-6 Astra, marks a significant step forward in artificial intelligence capability, according to a recent analysis by Kiatnakin Phatra Securities (KKPS). Astra demonstrates notable improvements in complex computer use, software engineering, and professional tasks, allowing for the completion of longer, multi-step workflows with reduced human intervention.
This highlights Astra’s role as a move toward so-called ‘agentic AI,’ where AI agents conduct entire tasks and checks with minimal input, rather than producing just single responses.
Kiatnakin sees the rise of agentic AI as potentially fueling a major expansion in AI workloads. Unlike traditional chatbots, agentic systems can independently reason, search, operate software, evaluate outputs, and iterate through these steps until a goal is fully achieved. This shift means each user request could trigger far more activity within AI data centers, leading to much faster growth in computing workloads.
The brokerage notes, however, that Astra also sets a new bar for efficiency, using fewer tokens and reducing task completion costs. This raises a key debate for AI infrastructure: Will workload growth from broader adoption outpace the gains made in model efficiency? The ultimate demand for infrastructure depends on which factor proves stronger.
Kiatnakin identifies Delta Electronics (Thailand) (SET: DELTA) as the top pick within the sector, stating that the stock stands to benefit the most if AI workload expansion outstrips efficiency improvements, particularly through higher demand for AI-focused data center power solutions. The Vera Rubin project could provide DELTA with an additional growth driver into 2027.
By contrast, Hana Microelectronics (SET: HANA) has less direct exposure to these trends and is experiencing a slower recovery in legacy segments.
As a result, Kiatnakin prefers DELTA over HANA as the primary beneficiary of rising agentic AI adoption in Thailand’s electronics market, giving both companies ‘Buy’ ratings and target prices of THB 340 and THB 42 per share, respectively.
