Asia-Pacific Stocks Track Wall Street’s Rally Amid AI Optimism and Easing Energy Prices

On Tuesday (22 September, 9:16 AM, GMT+7, Bangkok time), major indices in the Asia-Pacific exhibited gains, supported by overnight sentiment in major U.S. technology stocks. Investor confidence improved as oil prices declined and U.S. Treasury yields eased, underscoring a broadly positive risk environment.

The technology sector remained a focal point, with strong interest surrounding Meta’s newly introduced artificial intelligence agent. According to analysts, robust demand for this product has reinvigorated optimism regarding growth prospects within the broader AI market and lifted sentiment across related sectors.

Crude oil futures slid after U.S. President Donald Trump held off on potential military action against Yemen and signaled openness to negotiations with Iran, contributing to the pullback in energy prices. Additionally, the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield fell back below the 5% mark, hovering around 4.951%.

Trump is scheduled to deliver remarks to the United Nations General Assembly later in the day, where he may hold discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. As part of a broader policy initiative, the Trump administration has also outlined plans for a $5 billion reconstruction fund to address infrastructure damage in the Middle East resulting from ongoing conflict with Iran.

Investors are looking ahead to a summit this week in Washington, DC, where key issues including artificial intelligence, the Iran conflict, trade tariffs, and rare earth metals are expected to be addressed in talks between Trump and China’s President Xi Jinping.

Meanwhile, Japanese markets remained closed on Tuesday for a public holiday.

South Korea’s KOSPI jumped by 1.60% to 7,119.75, and Australia’s ASX 200 grew by 0.27% to 8,755.80.
