DFDL Myanmar Publication: Banking and Finance Update Compendium 2025–2026

DFDL is pleased to announce the release of its Myanmar Banking and Finance Update Compendium 2025–2026, the latest in our series tracking key legal and regulatory developments affecting Myanmar’s banking and finance sector.

Prepared with support from our Myanmar team, the Compendium provides a structured overview of publicly available developments from around January 2025 to July 2026, during which Myanmar’s financial and foreign exchange regulatory framework continued to evolve significantly.

Building on our previous editions, the Compendium covers key developments including export earnings and border trade payment frameworks, foreign exchange measures, new offshore remittance regulations, the new Anti-Money Laundering Law, regulation of financial institutions, bank reserve requirements, cryptocurrency and digital payments, and interest rate adjustments.

With the Central Bank of Myanmar continuing to introduce measures affecting foreign currency transactions, payment systems and financial institutions, this Compendium is intended as a practical reference for financial institutions, businesses, investors and other stakeholders seeking to understand Myanmar’s evolving banking and finance regulatory landscape.
