GULF Establishes New Data Center Unit to Expand Digital Infrastructure Investment in Thailand

Gulf Development Public Company Limited (SET: GULF) has informed the Stock Exchange of Thailand that it has established Gulf Edge Data Center Company Limited (GEDC), a company incorporated in Thailand with a registered capital of THB 1,000,000.

GEDC is a subsidiary in which GULF indirectly holds a 100% equity interest through Gulf Edge Company Limited (Gulf Edge), and was established as a holding company primarily to invest in and hold shares in companies engaged in the development and provision of data center services and other related businesses, as well as to provide supporting services for data center operations.

GULF currently has investments in data centers through GSA Holdings Company Limited (GSA Holdings), in which the company indirectly holds a 40% equity interest, with an aggregate capacity of approximately 70 megawatts. These comprise the GSA Data Center 01 project (GSA01), with a capacity of up to 25 megawatts, and the GSA Data Center 02 project (GSA02), with a capacity of up to 38 megawatts.

The establishment of GEDC is intended to support the further expansion of GULF’s investments in the data center business. GEDC will invest in a 70% equity interest in the Gulf Edge Data Center 01 project (GEDC01), with a capacity of up to 100 megawatts, and will also serve as a holding company to support future investments in and development of data center projects within the group.

The investment was made in reference to GULF’s policy to invest in key infrastructure projects in Thailand to support economic growth and enhance the country’s long-term competitiveness. Currently, the continued development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and the application of AI across business sectors have resulted in increasing demand for data storage and processing.

Data centers serve as digital infrastructure that supports the use of such technologies and the growth of the digital economy. As data centers require substantial amounts of electricity, the company sees an opportunity to create synergies between its energy and data center businesses, leveraging its expertise and experience in the energy business and its capabilities to efficiently meet such electricity demand.
