Democrats Four Seats Shy of Senate Control in Midterm Tally

At 10:26 a.m. (Bangkok Time), Democrats were four seats away from Senate control in the tally for the 2026 U.S. midterm elections. The count showed 47 seats for Democrats and 36 for Republicans, according to a Bloomberg tally.

The House figures also placed Democrats ahead numerically, at 122 seats compared with 65 for Republicans.

A party must secure at least 218 seats in the House of Representatives and 51 seats in the Senate to hold a majority in both chambers.
