Laos Records $13 Million Trade Deficit in Jan, while Inflation Jumps to 41.26% Last Month

Laos recorded a trade deficit of US$13 million in January 2023, according to the data reported by the Lao Trade Portal website. The country imported 474 million U.S. dollars worth of goods and exported 461 million U.S. dollars.

China remains the top destination for exports, followed by Thailand and Vietnam.

Meanwhile, inflation for February jumped to 41.26% over the year and from 40.3% in January. Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages surged by nearly 50% for the month.
