CIMBT 2Q22 Earnings Grow 71% from Significant Drop in Expected Credit Losses

CIMB Thai Bank Public Company Limited (SET: CIMBT) has announced its 2Q22 consolidated financial statement through the Stock Exchange of Thailand as follows;

CIMBT reported a net profit of 1,054 million baht in 2Q22, increased 71.89% from a net profit of 613 million baht in the same quarter last year. The increase was mainly due to lower expected credit losses for the quarter.

The bank recorded a loss on investment of 779 million baht, compared to gains on investment of 85 million baht in 2Q21. However, the loss was offset by net fees and service income at 465 million baht, increased by 59% YoY.

Expected credit losses made a significant drop in 2Q22 to 345 million baht from 940 million baht in the same period last year.

The gross NPL stood at 7.4 billion baht with a lower equivalent gross NPL ratio of 3.3% compared to 3.7% as at December 31, 2021.

Loan loss coverage ratio as at June 30, 2022, stood at 114.3% from 117.5% at the end of December 2021.
