Indorama Ventures Resumes Operations of PET and PTA Plants in Spain after Fire Incident

Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited (SET: IVL) has resumed the operation of its Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and Purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plants in San Roque, Spain, after the fire incident earlier this month, according to the report by Polymerupdate.

IVL notified the Stock Exchange of Thailand earlier this month that there was a fire at the PTA production plant of Indorama Ventures Quimica S.L.U. in Guadarranque-San Roque, Cadiz, Spain on 1 January 2023, which was contained quickly, with minor disruptions to operations as the company assesses repairs.

The incident occurred at about 10 am local time and the fire was brought under control by the efficient response of its experienced on-site team and local emergency services and resulted in no health or environmental impacts to employees or the community. Some operations are temporarily halted as a preventive measure to ensure safety. IVL said that it expects to complete safety protocols within a week and start unit operations of PET, PIA and PTA sequentially reaching full operations within January.
