DSI Clears Srisawad Corp from Prosecution on Interest Rate Allegations

Srisawad Corporation Public Company Limited (SET: SAWAD) has announced that the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) opted not to prosecute the company for the crime of jointly lending money and charging interest in excess of the rate prescribed by law.

According to disclosure by SAWAD to the Stock Exchange of Thailand, the company cited the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) on the matter of charging interest rates exceeding legal limits in which the DSI accepted the matter as a special case from 2024.

The company noted that the Director-General of the Office of Special Litigation has reviewed the case and issued an order not to prosecute SAWAD and its four subsidiaries for the crime of jointly lending money and charging interest in excess of the rate prescribed by law, pursuant to the Act Prohibiting the Collection of Interest at Excessive Rates B.E. 2560 (2017), Section 4, and the Criminal Code, Section 83. The Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation has considered the matter and does not object to the public prosecutor’s order not to prosecute.

SAWAD added that the decision made by the DSI reaffirmed that the company and its subsidiaries have not charged interest rates beyond those permitted by law in any way.
