On June 5, 2025, the Subcommittee for Screening Economic Stimulus Projects is expected to consider the allocation of central budget funds to stimulate the economy under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MOTS). The meeting will also review various tourism development projects under the Ministry of Culture (MOC) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE). In total, 184 projects are anticipated to be considered, with a combined budget of 13.381 billion baht.
Thanachart Securities stated that the MOTS has proposed a budget of 13.3 billion baht to stimulate the tourism sector, which is pending submission to the Cabinet meeting next week (June 10, 2025).
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will propose a budget of no less than 3 billion baht, allocated across three main projects, including;
- Domestic tourism (“Half-Price Travel” scheme): 1.7 billion baht;
- Support for online tourism platforms: 800 million baht; and
- Stimulus for flights, including charter and commercial flights: 750 million baht.
TAT expects these measures to generate about 87-90 billion baht in revenue, stimulating the economy.
The analyst foresees a positive sentiment for the Thai hotel sector and gives a ‘BUY’ recommendation on MINT (top pick), CENTEL, and ERW, as the projects are expected to support both Thai and foreign tourist numbers in the second half of the year.
As for Kasikorn Securities (KS), the analyst noted that the MOTS reported 575,136 tourists from May 26 to June 1, marking a 24.1% increase week-on-week, with Chinese tourist numbers rising by 24.4% over the same period. However, the brokerage firm adopts a more cautious outlook toward the Thai tourism sector. KS’ top-pick stocks remain BA, CENTEL, and SHR.
