The International Institute for Trade and Development (Public Organization), or ITD, is furthering the Ministry of Commerce’s ambition by hosting the second edition of the landmark regional trade event, “Regional Trade Exponential Fest 2025,” with the theme “Driving Asia Toward the Future.” In the context of rising global economic uncertainties, the event strives to unleash Thai businesses’ potential.
The Fest brings together corporate leaders, IT innovators, content creators, and entrepreneurs from ASEAN and around the world, providing a regional forum for information sharing and strategic networking. This initiative is consistent with the directives of Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, Minister of Commerce, and Mr. Chantawit Tantasith, Deputy Minister of Commerce, who have called for “equipping Thai SMEs with intellectual ammunition” to face today’s complex trade landscape, which is characterized by volatile logistics, unpredictable global markets, and rapidly shifting consumer behavior.
Mr. Suphakit Chareonkul, Executive Director of International Institute for Trade and Development, remarked that the rules of global trade are being rewritten. Today, a successful product and determination are no longer sufficient. Businesses require vision, strategy, networks, and continuous flexibility. Thai entrepreneurs, particularly SMEs, the backbone of our economy, must be globally savvy, well-informed, and think beyond borders. ITD built this platform to serve as a source of inspiration and practical information from international leaders.”
He further noted that the World Bank predicts global economic growth would slow to 2.3% in 2025, a stern warning that countries like Thailand must speed up their adaptation to trade restrictions and evolving global logistics. Thai SMEs, in particular, are facing increased operational costs and fluctuating international demand.
“Yet, amidst the crisis, lies immense opportunity,” Supakit added. “Regional markets are expanding. Digital technologies are carving out new paths. Sustainable tourism is becoming a mainstream trend. Consumer behavior is evolving rapidly. Thai businesses that are willing to learn and act early will be best positioned to seize these emerging opportunities.”
Regional Trade Exponential Fest 2025 is more than simply a seminar; it is the region’s most complete source of information and opportunity. This year, over 20 worldwide organizations and business leaders from various sectors—including e-commerce, technology, content, startups, and internationally successful Thai brands—will share real-world strategies and insights.
On the main stage, participants heard from giants such as Alibaba, which revealed the inner workings of its “Culture of Growth” that drives its global expansion; Bolt, the European ride-sharing platform that boldly stepped out from the shadows of bigger brands to now operate in 45 countries; and Klook, the Hong Kong-based travel platform that demonstrated how integrating technology with user experience can quickly capture global markets. The creative and content industries were also in the spotlight. iQIYI, a Chinese video-streaming platform, emphasized the importance of cultural storytelling in global markets. Thailand’s own GDH559 presented its expertise exporting Thai movies to Asia and beyond, while branding agency Yell demonstrated how Thai cultural identity can be transformed into globally resonant brand experiences.
Another standout was a cluster of Thai businesses rooted in local wisdom and culture: NaRaYa, which grew from a community-based bag maker into a top tourist favorite; PIPATCHARA, the fashion brand that transforms waste into wearable art; and Coco Thumb, which exports over 30 million premium young coconuts to more than 30 countries each year.
ITD also highlighted ASEAN startups that are influencing the future. These included Jago Coffee in Indonesia, which operates mobile electric-cart cafés with rapid smartphone ordering; Royo Panda in the Philippines, which exports tissue paper via e-commerce; and Green Discovery Laos, a pioneering force in sustainable eco-tourism aligned with ESG megatrends.
Mr. Suphakit concluded that in a rapidly changing environment, businesses must evolve faster—not just reactively, but with strategy, data, and clear direction. This event combines inspiration with actionable strategies, providing entrepreneurs of all sizes the confidence and tools they need to thrive in the new global economy.”
As a leading organization in international trade and development, ITD committed to establishing knowledge networks and ecosystems that support Thai businesses in scaling both regionally and globally. Its ultimate goal is to strengthen Thailand’s position in the future economy as robust, competitive, and sustainable.
