Apple rolled out its latest iPhone 17 range, spotlighting a lighter, more streamlined “Air” variant alongside hardware improvements focused on resilience and photography capabilities.
Despite notable feature refinements, Apple has maintained the $799 entry price for its basic iPhone offering, while the Pro edition sees a $100 increase to $1,099—albeit with double the storage capacity. The newly introduced Air sits between the two at $999.
The iPhone 17 Pro arrives with an all-aluminum casing and a revamped cooling system, which Apple says delivers a performance boost of 40% over its predecessor. Both the Air and Pro models now feature ceramic shields on both faces, aimed at improved drop protection.
Chief Executive Tim Cook proclaimed the iPhone Air as “a total game changer.” Nevertheless, Wall Street was less enthusiastic about the announcement, with Apple’s shares slipping 1.5% after the reveal.
