Banpu Power Public Company Limited (SET: BPP) has announced that the Stock Exchange of Thailand that on 30 January 2026, Banpu Power US Corporation (BPPUS), a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, entered into a Membership Interest Purchase Agreement (MIPA) with Grid Connected Infrastructure, LLC to acquire 100% of the ownership interests in GCI Megamouth, LLC, the project company of the Megamouth Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. The transaction value for the acquisition of the membership interest is USD 4 million, equivalent to approximately THB 1,241 million.
The project is located in Houston, Texas, United States, and will be ready for construction in Q3 2026. It has an installed capacity of 100 megawatts and an energy storage capacity of 200 megawatt-hours, with a total investment value of approximately USD 90 million, or around THB 2,7991 million. The project is expected to commence commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2027.
BPP noted that this investment marks an expansion of the company’s power business in the United States and aligns with its strategy to shift the portfolio toward lower-carbon assets while securing sustainable cash flow generation. The investment in this BESS project reflects the company’s long-term vision to drive sustainable growth and support its decarbonization objectives.
