Mr. Weerawat Wirojphoka, Senior Director of FSS International Investment Advisory Securities (FSSIA), stated that the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Index closed the morning session higher by 0.35%, or 5.40 points, at 1,539.04 points, as speculation in dividend stocks helped support the index.
He noted that the SET Index fluctuated in negative territory before rebounding to close positively. This is in line with foreign stock markets, which have seen continuous selling pressure in tech stocks.
Additionally, as major stocks such as ADVANC were marked with XD (ex-dividend) status, it served as a key pressure factor. Overall, as the SET Index has risen by more than 300 points, buying momentum appears to be slowing, while a lack of new drivers leads to volatility.
The afternoon outlook expects the market to move sideways down. However, there is still likely to be speculative buying in the banking sector due to dividend payments, which should help support the market. The support range is set at 1,520 points, and the resistance at 1,540 points.
Mr. Natapon Khamthakrue, Assistant Managing Director of Securities Analysis at Yuanta Securities (Thailand), added that at the end of the morning session, the index rebounded into positive territory, which is expected to be due to continuous capital inflow.
The Thai stock market remains strong, even though there are no particularly positive factors. He expects that this evening the index will fluctuate due to the revision of the MSCI Global Standard Index, which will use the closing price of equities at the end of the trading session.
