FSS International Investment Advisory Securities (FSSIA) has released its weekly update on international tourist arrivals for week 29 (July 12 – 18, 2026), highlighting positive momentum in Thailand’s tourism sector.
During the period, the number of international tourists reached 585,189, an average of 83,600 arrivals per day. This figure marked a 4% increase week-on-week, though it was down by 4% year-on-year. FSSIA attributed the WoW uptick to the ongoing summer school break in various countries, notably China and Taiwan, coupled with an expansion in flight routes from countries such as China, the UAE, and the Netherlands.
The YoY decline was driven primarily by a drop in non-Chinese tourists. This group saw a 3% increase WoW but a 7% decrease YoY, averaging 68,200 tourists per day. In contrast, arrivals from China showed robust growth, rising 8% WoW and 10% YoY, totaling 107,875 visitors for the week and averaging 15,400 per day. Chinese tourists accounted for 18% of total arrivals, steady from the prior week.
The top five source countries for tourists during the week were China (+8% WoW, +10% YoY), Malaysia (-18% WoW, -23% YoY), India (+4% WoW, -24% YoY), Taiwan (+51% WoW), and the United States (+2% WoW).
Looking ahead, FSSIA anticipates a further WoW increase in international arrivals in the coming week, buoyed by the extended summer holidays in China and Europe. YoY figures are expected to remain stable. The securities firm projects that July 2026 will see a total of 2.6 million international visitors, representing a 26% rise month-on-month and a 2% increase YoY.
Cumulative data from January 1 to July 18, 2026 shows Thailand has welcomed approximately 17.6 million international visitors, accounting for 53% of FSSIA’s full-year 2026 forecast of 33 million arrivals (flat YoY). The current pace remains in line with the analyst’s projections.
FSSIA maintains a positive outlook for continued recovery in international tourist arrivals into the third and fourth quarters of 2026, citing improved travel confidence amid eased geopolitical tensions and a moderation in oil prices compared to the second quarter. The firm continues to favor hotel operator ERW and airline BA among hospitality and aviation stocks.
Note: Official data for the period June 22 – 25, 2026 has not yet been released. Thus, FSSIA’s monthly and quarterly figures in this report are based on its own estimates for this interval, calculated from the average daily arrivals in June 2026.
