SET Index Sees Marginal Movements Amid Oil-Related Selloffs

On Tuesday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,620.87 points, showing a decrease of 1.03 points or 0.06%, with a trading value of THB 46.38 billion.

Maybank Securities (Thailand) stated that the Thai stock market traded within a narrow range during the morning session, still pressured by sell-offs in oil and petrochemical stocks following a continued decline in crude prices. Additionally, there was selling pressure on shares of Thai Airways due to specific factors affecting the company.

However, notable buying interest was seen in banking, finance, and retail stocks. The decline in U.S. bond yields, following the drop in oil prices, helped ease market concerns regarding accelerating inflation, despite the absence of new factors currently impacting the stock market.

For the afternoon session, the Thai stock market is expected to continue trading sideways within a range, with resistance anticipated at 1,635–1,640 points and support at 1,610–1,615 points.

The five securities with the highest trading values were as follows:

  • PTT: trading value at THB 3.63 billion, closing at THB 37.75, down THB 0.75 or 1.95%
  • THAI: trading value at THB 3.20 billion, closing at THB 5.55, down THB 0.10 or 1.77%
  • KTB: trading value at THB 2.53 billion, closing at THB 44.50, up THB 0.25 or 0.56%
