Charoen Pokphand and Token X Team Up to Turn Farmland Into Green Tokens

Charoen Pokphand Produce Company Limited (CPP), operating under the Charoen Pokphand Group, is taking steps to explore the feasibility of applying blockchain technology and the Green Tokenization concept to environmental projects. To this end, CPP has appointed Token X Company Limited, a unit under SCBX Public Company Limited (SET: SCB), to study how natural capital can be connected to financial systems and green funding sources, thereby supporting the conservation of natural resources while fostering long-term economic and social value.

This study aims to assess the potential of various natural sources and agricultural sectors, from rubber plantations and forestry projects to rice fields employing Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) water management, all under CPP and its affiliates. The focus is on exploring the feasibility of developing carbon credit projects in line with Thailand’s voluntary greenhouse gas reduction program, overseen by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization, as well as applicable international standards.

Simultaneously, the study evaluates ecosystem and natural capital value in such areas as carbon sequestration, greenhouse gas reduction, resource conservation, and biodiversity preservation. This also opens the path to Biodiversity Credits, reflecting broader environmental value, and investigates how these credits can be linked to blockchain technology under the “Green Tokenization” framework, ultimately supporting the creation of sustainable financing mechanisms for environmental projects.

Mr. Worasit Sittivichai, Chief Operating Officer of CPP’s Carbon Credit Business, explained that this collaboration’s core objective is to explore how technology and financial innovation can unlock the value of natural capital—from carbon reduction and capture, natural resource restoration, to biodiversity preservation—translating ecosystem value into tangible, long-term benefits for the environment, farmers, communities, and the broader economy.

Currently, CPP is running several initiatives aligned with the Green Tokenization concept, such as sustainable rubber plantation carbon credit projects, conducted in cooperation with authorities. These span 500,000 rai (approx. 197,700 acres) across five provinces: Loei, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, and Nakhon Phanom, involving more than 60,000 rubber-growing households.

Within the Green Tokenization framework, there is a vision to convert green project assets into digital tokens, alongside mechanisms linking environmental projects, data, outcomes, and funding through blockchain technology, thus promoting transparency and expanded market opportunities.

Carbon credits will play a major role, representing the impact of greenhouse gas reduction and carbon capture. Additionally, ecosystem aspects such as forest restoration, habitat conservation, and biodiversity will be evaluated, with Biodiversity Credits considered as another avenue for broader reflection of natural capital’s value.

Ms. Jittinun Chatsiharach, Chief Executive Officer of Token X, remarked that the study of Green Tokenization extends beyond carbon credits as assets; it broadly examines how technology can interlink environmental projects, natural capital value, and funding sources, placing a strong emphasis on project quality, data, as well as the structure and compliance of digital token issuance. Token X, as an ICO Portal, will assess the suitability of token structure, sales processes, and all related operations within the regulatory framework to establish a trustworthy and transparent foundation for Green Tokenization of environmental projects.

Mr. Wanrob Boontham, Chief Investment Officer of Token X, added that the partnership is currently in the study phase, aiming to establish comprehensive guidelines covering criteria, optimal digital token issuance structures, asset suitability, benefit allocation mechanisms, and the integration of blockchain-driven innovations corresponding to the Real-World Asset Tokenization concept. The goal is to maximize advantages for the agricultural sector, the digital asset industry, and all related ecosystems. The actual issuance and sale of digital tokens will be considered as the next step based on study outcomes.

This partnership marks a significant step in integrating agricultural expertise, carbon management, blockchain technology, and financial innovation to systematically create value from natural capital and environmental projects. It also serves as a foundation to extend Green Tokenization, connecting environmental projects with green funding sources and supporting natural resource conservation, paving the way for green economy development within the Charoen Pokphand Group and across Thailand in the long term.
