Market Roundup 27 August 2026

Thailand’s SET Index closed at 1,600.70 points, decreasing by 1.22 points or 0.08%, with a trading value of THB 65.27 billion. The analyst stated that the Thai stock market closed lower after having surged throughout the day, as the market was pressured by profit-taking in big-caps—particularly the banking, telecommunication, and energy sectors, as well as AOT.

This came despite positive sentiment in the electronics sector after Nvidia reports better-than-expected earnings results. Nevertheless, the financial report is considered a short-term factor, with no new catalysts to carry on the momentum.

For tomorrow, the analyst expects the Thai market to move sideways within range.

Thailand’s exports continued their strong momentum in July 2026, rising 21.6% year-on-year to $34,789.1 million and marking the 25th consecutive month of growth. Electronics and products related to hi-tech investment remained the standout performers and key drivers of Thailand’s export sector.

The ministry emphasized that the visit was conducted exclusively within Thai territory, confirming that the tour conformed entirely to the bilateral framework under the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting.

Thai officials said no Thai casualties had been reported following severe flooding and landslides in areas along Nepal’s Bhote Koshi River on August 26, 2026. The disaster affected Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan, leaving at least 95 people dead and many others unaccounted for.
