SET Index Sees Marginal Gains as Electronics and Power Plant Sectors Drive Resilience Amid Global Volatility

On Monday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,590.67 points, showing an increase of 2.45 points or 0.15%, with a trading value of THB 33.42 billion.

UOB Kay Hian Securities (Thailand) stated that the Thai stock market demonstrated stronger resilience compared to global markets, which retreated following signals from the U.S. Federal Reserve indicating a tightening monetary policy stance. Thailand’s market, on the other hand, has benefited from domestic factors.

Firstly, the positive sentiment from last week’s “Thailand Focus 2026” event has continued, particularly supporting electronics stocks related to the semiconductor sector. Secondly, anticipation for the new Power Development Plan 2026, which is nearing finalization, has driven interest in several power plant stocks.

Additionally, a number of banking stocks have gained as they head into the dividend payout period, which has contributed to a slight uptick in the Thai bourse.

The outlook for the Thai stock market this afternoon is expected to be similar to the morning’s performance, with potential for a slowdown as prices have risen substantially. Several banking stocks, having increased by 70–100%, may experience profit-taking and portfolio adjustments. This is a normal market movement and could potentially lead to a negative close for today, according to the brokerage.

Key support levels are set at 1,580 and 1,550 points, with resistance at 1,600 points.
