Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (SET: CPF) has informed the Stock Exchange of Thailand that, on September 14, 2026, the company was notified of the order of the Court of Appeal in the civil case brought by Mr. Panya Tokthong and other plaintiffs, together with 10 persons, against the company in connection with the blackchin tilapia matter.
The Court of Appeal has ordered that the case may proceed as a class action, subject to the criteria and scope prescribed by the court.
CPF emphasized that the aforementioned order concerns only the procedural manner in which the case will proceed and does not constitute a determination on the merits of the case. The court has not yet ruled on whether the company is liable in respect of the allegations made by the plaintiffs or whether the company is liable for, or required to pay, any damages claimed by the plaintiffs. The case will proceed to further consideration by the Court of First Instance.
The company reaffirms its respect for the order of the court and the judicial process and is prepared to fully participate in the proceedings. The company also stated that it will present the relevant facts, evidence, and applicable laws to the Court for its consideration of the substantive issues in dispute.
With respect to the amount of damages claimed by the plaintiffs, CPF clarified that such amount represents the amount claimed by the plaintiffs and remains subject to proof and determination in accordance with the applicable legal procedures. At this stage, the company added that any potential financial impact cannot be reliably determined and will depend on, among other factors, the facts and circumstances of the case, the scope of the class, the outcome of the proceedings, and any judgment or order of the court.
As the dispute is currently subject to judicial proceedings, CPF is unable to predict the outcome of the case or provide any comments that may affect or prejudice the judicial process. The company said it will provide further updates should there be any material progress in the case.
