Banpu Public Company Limited (SET: BANPU) showcased its integrated U.S. natural gas business “U.S. Closed-Loop Gas” at Gastech 2026, highlighting a platform connecting gas production, midstream infrastructure, power generation, and carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS).
Presented under the theme “The Future Flows Circular,” the platform aims to deliver reliable, flexible energy solutions while reducing carbon emissions and creating value across the energy supply chain.
The strategy centers on BKV Corporation, BANPU’s majority-owned energy company. BKV ranks among the top 15 natural gas producers in the United States and is the largest producer in the Barnett gas field in Texas.
Its portfolio includes upstream natural gas reserves, combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plants with total capacity of 1.5 gigawatts in Texas, and three operating carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects. Integrating these assets is intended to improve operational efficiency and give customers and partners access to multiple energy solutions through a single provider.
BANPU said U.S. natural gas demand is expected to increase by approximately 25% by 2030, while electricity demand in Texas’s competitive ERCOT market is projected to rise more than 21-fold by 2032.
Against this backdrop, BKV is developing an integrated energy complex in Jack County, Texas, on more than 6,200 acres. The company has submitted interconnection applications covering both electricity generation and consumption.
The development has the potential to combine natural gas production, power generation and carbon capture at one location to serve rapidly growing electricity demand in the ERCOT market.
BKV is also expanding its carbon storage capabilities through new developments, including the East Texas project, alongside its three operating CCS projects: Barnett Zero, Cotton Cove and Eagle Ford. It targets a carbon dioxide sequestration rate of approximately 1.5 million tonnes annually by 2028.
BANPU Chief Executive Officer Sinon Vongkusolkit said rising global energy demand requires reliable and flexible supplies alongside practical solutions for managing greenhouse gas emissions.
BKV’s integrated strategy addresses these needs through Carbon-Sequestered Gas (CSG), which the company describes as carbon-neutral natural gas covering Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions through CCS technology.
The gas-to-power platform is underpinned by upstream resources, quality natural gas reserves and efficient cost management. These foundations support power generation and CCUS operations while helping generate cash flow and long-term value.
Beyond its U.S. gas business, BANPU is connecting its energy resources, power generation and future energy technology operations. Its next-gen mining business focuses on strategic minerals for batteries, energy storage and future infrastructure, while Power+ provides integrated electricity solutions.
Future tech business focuses on net zero solutions that improve access to reliable, affordable energy while reducing emissions. It also invests in artificial intelligence and future energy technologies through corporate venture capital.
Sinon identified the integrated U.S. gas business as a key growth driver, with connections between upstream gas, electricity generation and carbon-reduction technologies supporting BANPU’s energy transition and long-term competitiveness.
