SET Index Surges on Electronics-Banking Interest, While Traders Await Key US Meetings

On Monday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,593.60 points, showing an increase of 9.45 points or 0.60%, with a trading value of THB 32.26 billion.

Yuanta Securities (Thailand) stated that the Thai stock market opened higher this morning, tracking gains in regional markets, supported by a retreat in oil prices, as well as positive domestic factors after Fitch Ratings revised the country’s credit rating outlook from Negative to Stable.

The Thai bourse was notably buoyed by electronics component stocks such as DELTA and HANA, both of which had seen declines last week due to concerns regarding cash balance risks. In addition, bank stocks also advanced, following the country’s improved credit rating.

For the afternoon session, the market is expected to remain steady, with investors awaiting the outcome of discussions between the United States and the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), scheduled for tomorrow, as well as the upcoming meeting between the U.S. and China later this week.

Support is anticipated in the range of 1,585 to 1,590 points, with resistance seen at 1,597 to 1,600 points.
