The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Chulalongkorn University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on academic cooperation to advance education, research, and human capital development for Thai family businesses. The partnership aims to develop internationally recognized academic programs in Family Business and Family Wealth Management at both undergraduate and graduate levels.Through case study development, in-depth research, and governance promotion, the initiative seeks to empower next-generation leaders and establish Thailand as a national and regional hub for family business expertise.

SET Chairman Professor Kitipong Urapeepatanapong, who delivered a keynote address titled “Who Will Lead Thailand’s Family Businesses Tomorrow?”, said that family businesses are the backbone of the Thai economy and must be equipped to meet future challenges. This collaboration brings together the strengths of the capital market and academia across five areas: (1) knowledge content development (2) family business research and case study creation (3) governance and sustainability promotion (4) network building with leading domestic and international institutions and (5) personnel and academic resource exchange. Together, these efforts aim to develop next-generation leaders capable of driving sustainable enational growth, reinforcing SET’s role as “The Trusted Gateway to Inclusive Opportunities.”
Chulalongkorn University President Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, said that the university, through Sasin School of Management (SASIN) and the College of Interdisciplinary and Integrative Studies (CUii), is ready to integrate its academic expertise to co-develop internationally benchmarked curricula and knowledge resources. The university will strengthen Thai family business research and case studies for broader recognition, while incorporating digital learning innovations to enhance educational effectiveness. Chulalongkorn University is confident this partnership will be a key driver in elevating Thai education to a globally recognized hub for high-quality family business professionals.
This five-year MoU represents a landmark collaboration between Thailand’s capital market and education sectors to strengthen the capabilities of next-generation family business heirs and executives. It also seeks to expand collaborative networks with leading universities, financial institutions, and businesses domestically, internationally, and across the the CLMV region, supporting the sustainable growth of Thai family businesses and the broader national economy.
