SET Index Rises on Lower Bond Yields and Oil Prices, US-Iran Developments in Focus

On Tuesday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,609.37 points, showing an increase of 11.34 points or 0.71%, with a trading value of THB 40.45 billion.

FSS International Investment Advisory Securities (FSSIA) noted that the Thai stock market continued to rise this morning, supported by a decline in oil prices. The market is optimistic about potential positive developments from U.S.-Iran negotiations at the United Nations General Assembly, which has also led to a decrease in U.S. government bond yields.

At the same time, Thai bond yields have experienced a more pronounced decline compared to other countries. The 10-year bond yield fell to 2.18% this morning, down from 2.31% on 17 September 2026. This followed Fitch Ratings’ decision to upgrade Thailand’s outlook from Negative to Stable, attracting foreign fund inflows into the equity market.

Additionally, the easing of oil prices has alleviated inflation concerns, boosting buying interest in technology stocks globally and providing a further lift to the domestic market. The news regarding the extension of the ‘Thai Helps Thai Plus’ program, on the other hand, has largely been priced in by the market, according to the brokerage.

Looking ahead to the afternoon session, FSSIA anticipates that the market should maintain its positive territory, with the first resistance level at 1,610 points. Should the market break through this level, momentum may shift from the previous sideways-down to a potential test of 1,630–1,632 points, which has served as a ceiling in the past two to three months, while the support level is seen at 1,600 points.
