Thailand’s SET Index closed at 1,602.37 points, decreasing by 5.26 points or 0.33%, with a trading value of THB 49.70 billion. The analyst stated that the Thai stock market declined due to pressure from U.S. bond yields reaching a new high, and oil prices bounced back to above $100 a barrel.

However, the analyst stated that the Thai benchmark remains resilient and the impact from the major flood is likely to be limited.

Investors are recommended to closely monitor the U.S.-Iran peace talks and the U.S. employment figures to gauge the Federal Reserve’s rate direction in the October meeting.

The analyst expects the Thai market to rebound tomorrow.

 

Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) Selection Committee has resolved to impose an administrative enforcement measure requiring NBTC Chairman Professor Dr. Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruck to stop performing his duties, while petitioning the Central Administrative Court to formally order his suspension.

 

The White House has outlined goods that could receive lower tariffs under a U.S.-China arrangement covering about $30 billion in imports in each direction. The disclosure followed talks in Washington between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The proposed U.S. list includes consumer and recreational items such as fireworks, toys, sports gear and household goods. Products identified for China’s side include meat, seafood, dairy, grain, coal, timber and medical equipment.
