- LOT Polish Airlines and Thai Airways have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for future codeshare cooperation.
- Passengers can already combine LOT Polish Airlines and THAI flights as part of a single journey under the airlines’ existing interline agreement.
- The new codeshare offering will launch in early 2027, subject to regulatory approval.
LOT Polish Airlines and Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (SET: THAI), both members of the Star Alliance network, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) confirming their intention to establish codeshare cooperation. The planned partnership will cover selected destinations in Europe, Asia and Oceania, providing passengers of both airlines with a wider range of connections and greater convenience when travelling. The first journeys under the new cooperation are planned from the beginning of the 2027 summer season.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Robert Ludera, Board Member, Chief Commercial Officer at LOT Polish Airlines, and Kittiphong Sansomboon, THAI’s Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). The signing of the MoU coincided with the inauguration of LOT’s Warsaw–Bangkok route, opening up new opportunities for the development of cooperation between the two carriers.
“The launch of direct scheduled services between Warsaw and Bangkok provides wide additional opportunities for those passengers who look for convenient access to the most beautiful cities in Thailand and beyond, across Asia, Australia and Oceania. Thai Airways is a natural partner for us in achieving this goal. Together, we can leverage the strengths of both networks while also encouraging passengers from Asia to discover Poland,” said Robert Ludera, Board Member, Chief Commercial Officer at LOT Polish Airlines.
By combining the potential of their networks, LOT Polish Airlines and Thai Airways intend to develop travel options between Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. The partnership is designed to give passengers access to additional destinations while enabling both carriers to reach new groups of travellers. An important objective of the cooperation is also to support tourism and business in both directions – both travel from Poland and Europe to Thailand and other countries in the region, as well as visits to Poland and Europe by passengers travelling from Asia and Oceania.
“This MoU marks an important step in strengthening the connection between Thailand and Poland. LOT’s new Warsaw–Bangkok service creates a strong platform for us to build on our existing relationship and take it a step further. Through the planned codeshare partnership, we see an opportunity to make travel between Europe and Asia more accessible, while giving passengers more options to discover destinations across both regions,” said Kittiphong Sansomboon, THAI’s Chief Commercial Officer.
The planned partnership will build on the existing interline cooperation, under which passengers can already combine LOT and THAI flights as part of a single journey. The codeshare arrangement will allow selected flights operated by one airline to also be offered under the code and flight number of the other carrier. As a result, the joint offer available under the codes of both airlines will be significantly expanded, making it easier for passengers to search for and book convenient connections. Both carriers will strive to ensure a smooth and convenient travel experience, from planning the journey and transferring between partner flights through to reaching the final destination.
Thanks to both airlines’ membership in Star Alliance, passengers can already enjoy the alliance benefits they are entitled to, including earning miles on eligible flights operated by both LOT Polish Airlines and Thai Airways. Star Alliance Gold members can also enjoy privileges such as lounge access, priority airport services and additional baggage allowance, subject to the applicable conditions.
The next stage of the cooperation will involve signing a codeshare agreement, followed by the technical and operational preparations required to implement the partnership.
