Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (SET: GPSC) reported a 9% year-over-year drop in third-quarter 2026 net profit to THB 1,592 million as surging natural gas prices squeezed Small Power Producer (SPP) energy margins. Consolidated revenue reached THB 21,972 million, up 2% year-over-year, propelled by higher cost pass-through selling prices.

The Independent Power Producer (IPP) unit generated gross profit of THB 1,561 million, up 26% year-over-year, boosted by higher availability payments at GHECO-One and reduced coal margin drag. Conversely, the Small Power Producer (SPP) segment experienced margin compression, with gross profit dropping 20% year-over-year to THB 3,364 million. SPP natural gas costs jumped 28% year-over-year to THB 396 per MMBTU, outpacing fuel tariff adjustments. The Very Small Power Producer (VSPP) unit saw gross profit contract 36% to THB 167 million following the asset sale in Taiwan.
Core operational earnings were augmented by notable non-recurring items. GPSC booked a THB 257 million pre-tax gain (THB 222 million post-tax) from selling a 90% stake in Taiwan solar developer Sheng Yang Energy (SYE), alongside THB 267 million in income from selling spare asset usage rights. Net foreign exchange gains contributed THB 32 million in Q3 2026.
GPSC strengthened its capital structure through continued debt reduction. Total interest-bearing debt dropped 8% to THB 102,922 million, lowering the net debt-to-equity ratio to 0.69x. Liquidity remained solid with THB 19,651 million in cash and cash equivalents.
Management reiterated its strategic focus on clean energy expansion under its 4S Strategy. The company targets a position among Southeast Asia’s top three power producers, aiming for green energy to constitute more than half of its total generation portfolio.
