South Korea’s Opposition Leader Stabbed Severely in the Neck during Local Visit

South Korea’s opposition Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung was rushed to the hospital after being stabbed in the neck during a visit to the southern port city of Busan early Tuesday, according to the report by the Yonhap news agency.

The report stated that the Democratic Party leader was attacked by an unidentified man in his 50s or 60s wearing a paper crown with Lee’s name on it.

Lee was the runner up in the 2022 presidential election, who narrowly lost to the conservative party’s Yoon Suk-yeol.

Lee was conscious at the time he was carried to the hospital, according to the report.
