WHAUP Signs MOU with MWA to Enhance the Water Supply System in Target Area

Miss Jareeporn Jarukornsakul, Chairman and Group CEO of WHA Corporation Pcl, Mr. Somkiat Masunthasuwun, Chief Executive Officer of WHA Utilities & Power Plc along with executives of WHA Utilities & Power Plc, Mr. Manit Panaim, Governor of Metropolitan Waterworks Authority and Miss Chawewan Uthaipibool, Deputy Governor of Metropolitan Waterworks Authority along with executives of Metropolitan Waterworks Authority, recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on “Cooperation to study the possibility of establishing a subsidiary or forming a joint venture with MWA” Such as develop a master plan for the management of water supply system and/or other related projects. It aims to form a joint venture to take responsibility of water supply network in target areas, which is dubbed as the pilot project, before expanding to other areas in Thailand and overseas with the use of new innovations.

The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) and WHA Utilities & Power Plc (WHAUP) jointly signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to study the possibility of establishing a subsidiary and/or forming a joint venture with MWA to manage the water supply system in target area before expanding to other areas of marketing network in Thailand and overseas, with the use of new innovations.

Mr. Manit Panaim, Governor of Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA), said the MOU between MWA and WHAUP is a collaborative effort to study the possibility of establishing or jointly investing in a company related to consultancy services, including drafting a master plan and managing water supply systems. Additionally, it involves a feasibility study of investment models for the water management systems in target areas before expanding to other regions, both domestically and internationally.

Miss Jareeporn Jarukornsakul, Chairman and Group CEO of WHA Corporation Pcl (WHA), said the collaboration between WHAUP and MWA signifies a commitment to jointly enhance the sustainable development of the nation’s public utilities. It aims to support the most efficient utilization of water supply through WHAUP’s expertise in leading industrial water management technologies in Thailand. This collaboration will significantly enhance the capabilities to elevate the water supply system in MWA’s target areas, maximizing benefits for end users.

Mr. Somkiat Masunthasuwun, Chief Executive Officer of WHA Utilities & Power Plc, noted that WHAUP has plans to explore the possibility of integrating cutting-edge technologies such as Smart Water Solutions, including Smart Meter systems and Optical Character Recognition Systems (OCR), into the management of water supply projects. Additionally, the company aims to harness solar energy for electricity generation within water production systems to maximize efficiency. WHAUP also intends to incorporate innovative techniques for producing high-quality water, such as Premium Clarified Water, to meet specific demand of customers who seek higher water quality in the future.
