KH Academy recently opened its doors at the Ratchathewi Campus to welcome a diverse group of participants—including university students, private sector employees, entrepreneurs, and media professionals—for the KH Legal Aid seminar in May.
The event, held under the theme “Know the Law Before You Borrow,” took place on Saturday, May 23, 2026. The seminar was honored by the presence of Mr. Wuttichai Phumsanguan, Expert Public Prosecutor, who shared practical knowledge on debt law, a topic that considerably impacts people’s daily lives.
The seminar focused on building a correct understanding of borrowing money and drafting loan agreements, while highlighting the legal implications of documents such as debt acknowledgments. Participants also gained insight from high-profile legal cases currently in the public eye, helping them apply this knowledge as a safeguard against being taken advantage of or inadvertently breaking the law.
“Debt laws, loan agreements, guarantees, and secured transactions — as well as the boundaries between civil and criminal cases — are often overlooked. The significance of a ‘signature’ on legal documents is often underestimated, and if people sign without a proper understanding, the consequences can become severe, potentially including asset seizures, court enforcement, or facing both civil and criminal suits. This session aims to be a protective shield, equipping creditors, debtors, and the public with a comprehensive grasp of the law to avoid falling victim to unfair agreements,” said Mr. Wuttichai.
Ms. Yodkwan Vesaratchakorn, one of the seminar participants, shared her positive experience. She learned about the KH Legal Aid project through a program by Kaohoon TV Online, part of Kaohoon Turakij. “I found the topic very relevant and something we might overlook in everyday life. I joined to gain practical knowledge for future benefit,” she said. Ms. Yodkwan also noted that the seminar was easy to understand despite her initial concerns, and she appreciated how the prosecutor explained the legal concepts in accessible terms. She expressed hope that more events like this would be arranged in the future.
Similarly, Mr. Sompon Kometmit, another attendee, highlighted the importance of studying law beyond the regular curricula. “Law is not a subject included in most general education programs, so we have to seek knowledge ourselves. The expert prosecutor explained everything in detail, making it much easier to understand. I plan to join KH Legal Aid events regularly because I realize there is so much more to learn,” he said.
KH Legal Aid is one of KH Academy’s ongoing social projects, aiming to continue the mission of ‘Kaohoon Turakij’ by promoting public legal education and contributing to enhancing Thai society. The monthly seminars, held free of charge, are intended to help the public better understand their legal rights and responsibilities and to reduce the chances of unintentional legal mistakes.
