Dr. Veerapol Khemarangsan, M.D., Chief Executive Officer of Medeze Group Public Company Limited (SET: MEDEZE), disclosed that the company has met the requirement for the criteria of cell bank certification. This follows the Royal Gazette’s announcement on the criteria and conditions for cell banking, or Cell Banking, as set by the Department of Medical Sciences.
The Royal Gazette website published the Department of Medical Sciences’ regulation regarding “Criteria and Conditions for Cell Bank (Cell Bank) Standard Certification B.E. 2568 (2025)” on October 9, 2025. The regulation will be enforced 30 days after the announcement. This regulation establishes the criteria and conditions for cell bank standard certification, such as the issuance of a certificate valid for five years and requiring renewal applications to be submitted at least 120 days before expiration.
Setting standards for cell banks is a key mission of the Department in building a robust, safe, and reliable supervisory system. The Department has developed a certification mechanism covering the assessment criteria for personnel, facilities, equipment, and tools, as well as cell storage processes and quality management systems, ensuring that cell bank organizations can operate in accordance with academic principles and international standards.
Additionally, the Department of Medical Sciences has created a cell bank standard manual as a guide for government and private agencies. This encompasses the requirements for human cell storage for research and the development of cell therapy products, including both minimally manipulated and advanced manipulated cells, as well as requirements for personnel, facilities, equipment, processes, and quality management systems to ensure efficient and safe application.
This regulation is regarded as a vital mechanism for promoting Thailand’s modern healthcare industry, supporting the safe use of advanced biotechnology, and aligning with the relevant legal framework, for the ultimate benefit of the Thai healthcare system and its people.
