More than 130 network mobility solutions, including rapid Cell-on-Wheels (COW) units and temporary sites, have been deployed across all host provinces to ensure seamless communications.
True Corporation is enhancing 5G and 4G performance nationwide, while True Online is providing high-speed fibre broadband and WiFi at all provincial Press Centers to support Thai and international media with stable, real-time and accurate reporting throughout the Games.
The company aims to deliver a high-quality digital experience for athletes, media and spectators visiting Thailand. Following the relocation of competition venues from Songkhla due to severe flooding in Hat Yai, True has rapidly reinforced 5G and 4G capacity in Bangkok and Chonburi.
True Corporation, led by Mr. Khurrum Ashfaque, Chief Network Officer, and the network engineering team, conducted on-site readiness inspections at mobile switching centres and base stations in Chonburi, as well as competition venues across Bangkok and the metropolitan area.
The original plan involved three main host provinces, including Songkhla, but the organising committee’s recent decision to move events scheduled in Songkhla to Bangkok and Chonburi prompted True to adjust its network plan immediately.
The company has mobilised additional COW units and installed temporary base stations in newly assigned venues to support the anticipated surge in data usage across all 33rd SEA Games event locations.
Key network enhancement plans to strengthen coverage across all venues include:
- Bangkok and Metropolitan Area:
Ensuring readiness at Rajamangala National Stadium, the main venue for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as Thai-Japan Stadium, Din Daeng, and various indoor arenas across Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani. These venues will host many highlight events, including men’s football, volleyball, swimming and athletics.
- Eastern Region (Chonburi, Pattaya and Rayong):
Supporting outdoor and water-based sports such as jet ski, triathlon, golf, shooting and women’s football, as well as athletes’ accommodations and administrative zones.
Network enhancement solutions for the 33rd SEA Games include:
- Maximised 5G performance on the 2600 MHz band with 100% full bandwidth for key venues
- Deployment of additional Cell-on-Wheels (COW) mobile base stations
- Additional microwave links to expand connectivity in specific competition zones
- Installation of temporary base stations (Temporary Sites)
- Fine-tuning of signal parameters based on real-time usage patterns during the Games
- Strengthened 5G and 4G coverage along transportation routes to support athletes and international visitors
- 24/7 real-time network quality assurance via the AI-powered Business and Network Intelligence Center (BNIC)
