Give Dead Tech a Second Life: AIS Marks International E-Waste Day with “Let the Dead Do Good”

Hidden away in our homes, old electronic devices become the forgotten dead, lying dormant in drawers and storage spaces while their environmental impact continues to grow. Marking International E-Waste Day on 14 October 2026, AIS brings these forgotten devices back into the spotlight with the launch of “Let the Dead Do Good,” transforming AIS SIAM into a landmark for responsible E-Waste management. It’s time to let the “dead” E-Waste rest in peace, but not before it does one last good deed. AIS invites the public to bring their forgotten E-Waste for recycling, giving these lifeless devices a chance at a new life. Because even in death, they can still do good.

By day, AIS SIAM showcases the latest technology, celebrating innovation and the newest devices. But after closing time, the store takes on a darker identity, with advertisements for the latest technologies transforming into images of old, broken devices, bringing the “dead” tech back to life. This striking contrast between new and discarded technology highlights the often-overlooked fate of electronic devices once they are no longer in use. The initiative also features an E-Waste collection point, inviting the public to bring in their old electronic devices for responsible recycling, alongside an in-store showcase of retired devices.

Running from 14 to 31 October 2026, the campaign aligns with this year’s global “Fast Tech: Don’t bin it, bring it!” theme, which calls attention to the responsible management of small electronic products. Fast Tech reflects the growing consumption of inexpensive, readily available electrical and electronic items, such as earphones, charging cables, USB adapters, mini fans, and other gadgets. Once broken or no longer used, these products are often thrown away with general waste or left forgotten at home. This year’s International E-Waste Day aims to build understanding that even small or inexpensive devices become electronic waste at the end of their useful lives and require proper treatment.

Through “Let the Dead Do Good,” AIS brings this global issue into a setting where younger generations regularly discover and purchase new technology. The campaign encourages people to look through their homes for unused phones and gadgets, then act by bringing them to an E-Waste collection point. By connecting awareness with an accessible way to participate, the initiative reflects AIS’s commitment to environmental responsibility alongside its promotion of technology.

This campaign is part of AIS’s long-term commitment to raising E-Waste awareness and promoting responsible recycling. By encouraging proper disposal of unused electronic devices and giving valuable materials a new purpose, AIS aims to turn awareness into action and build a more sustainable digital society.
