Thai Exports Beat Forecast with 10.2% Expansion in April

Thailand reported a 10.2% increase in its customs-cleared exports in April compared to the same time last year, according to the commerce ministry’s announcement on Monday.

This figure exceeded analysts’ predictions, which anticipated a 9.1% growth based on a Reuters poll. The rise follows a significant surge of 17.8% in March.

Thailand’s customs-cleared trade balance for April faced a deficit of $3.3 billion, diverging from the $0.80 billion deficit forecasted by Reuters. Meanwhile, imports surged by 16.1% year-over-year, surpassing the predicted 8.5%.

The Commerce Minister indicated that while export growth is expected in the second quarter of 2025, potential disruptions loom later in the year due to anticipated U.S. tariffs.
