Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira announced that, on June 18, the Economic Stimulus Policy Committee will meet under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
The meeting will consider an economic stimulus plan funded by a budget of THB 157 billion. The priority is to select the most ready projects for immediate implementation, with projects totaling over THB 100 billion already prepared for approval.
Discussions on the utilization of the THB 157 billion budget have determined that project completion within the current fiscal year is required, with funds to be deployed in the upcoming fiscal year, according to Pichai
In addition, Pichai spoke about the progress of Thailand-US trade and tariffs negotiations, now advancing to the technical negotiation phase. He indicated that Thailand is preparing to submit its detailed proposals to the United States authorities within this week.
The initial discussions, conducted online, are set to evolve into face-to-face meetings to fine-tune the proposals following already-established guidelines.
The latest developments in the trade negotiations were also highlighted by Thanachart Securities, which reported that Pichai expects Thailand to submit a five-point proposal to the US within the week.
This progress in Thai-US relations is seen as a “Positive” sentiment for stocks in the industrial estate and export sectors, including companies like AMATA, WHA, ITC, TU, DELTA, and HANA.
