Trump Stands Firm in Supplying Ukraine with Weapons against Russia

Despite previously halting some weapon shipment, U.S. President Donald Trump stated at the dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the nation will assist Ukraine by sending weapons, primary defensive weapons, to protect itself from Russia’s attacks.

The statement came after the report that the U.S. has ceased to supply Ukraine with the Patriot missiles as its stockpile is running low.

Last Friday, Trump held a telephone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky who discussed the nation’s air defense capability. Ukraine has been asking for more Patriot missiles as the weapon’s function can combat against Russian air attacks.

Trump told reporters last Friday about Ukraine’s request for Patriot missiles, however, he did not touch on this matter in his statement on Monday. More importantly, the Pentagon statement also did not specify any information of the U.S. shipping this missile to Ukraine.

Since the invasion began in February 2022, Russia has been launching strikes against Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital city. Last Friday, Russia launched 539 drones and 11 missiles, the biggest aerial attacks. According to the BBC’s report, one person was killed, with 26 injured.

On June 4, 2025, CNN reported that based on the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ finding, about one million Russian soldiers have either perished or been injured in this war. Meanwhile, the casualties on Ukraine’s side have reached 400,000.
