Tehran Warns of Retaliatory Strikes on US Regional Bases amid Risk of American Intervention

Iran has cautioned that it will target American military facilities located in Middle Eastern countries allied with the United States if Washington launches an attack on Iranian soil.

This warning was disclosed by a senior Iranian official to Reuters on Wednesday, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats to take action in support of anti-government protesters. A rights group disclosed that unrest across Iran has resulted in nearly 2,600 deaths.

According to an Israeli official, Israeli intelligence believes President Trump has resolved to intervene in Iran, although the timeline and extent of any action remain uncertain.

The Iranian official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Tehran urged U.S. allies in the region—specifically naming Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey—to dissuade Washington from taking military action.

President Trump, in an interview with CBS News on Tuesday, pledged “very strong action” should Iranian authorities execute detained protesters. “If they hang them, you’re going to see some things,” he warned, also urging demonstrators to persist and promising support, though he stopped short of specifying what measures would be taken.

Last year, in retaliation for U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear targets, Tehran launched missiles at a base in Al Udeid.
